LMIA requirements
Under the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP), families can hire foreign caregivers. However, the caregivers must:•provide care on a full-time basis (minimum 30 hours per week);•work in the private household where the care is being provided; and•meet the requirements set by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC)/Service Canada and Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC).•Employer must show efforts have been made to hire Canadian, permanent resident or aboriginal before application for LMIA is filed
Employer is responsible
- pay for airfare to Canada for Overseas caregiver- provide private medical insurance until the caregiver is enrolled with provincial medical insurance services- register with Health and Work Safety- follow Employment Standard ActTo start the LMIA process we invite you to register with us by filling out the on-line application or contact our office by phone.
