LMIA requirements

Under the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP), families can hire foreign caregivers. However, the caregivers must: •provide care on a full-time basis (minimum 30 hours per week); •work in the private household where the care is being provided; and •meet the requirements set by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC)/Service Canada and Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC). •Employer must show efforts have been made to hire Canadian,  permanent resident or aboriginal before application for LMIA is filed

Employer is responsible

- pay for airfare to Canada for Overseas caregiver - provide private medical insurance until the caregiver is enrolled with provincial medical insurance services - register with Health and Work Safety - follow Employment Standard Act To start the LMIA process we invite you to register with us by filling out the on-line application or contact our office by phone.
